These impacts are projected to become even more severe in the future if greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise.

Mitigating the impacts of climate change requires urgent action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This can be achieved by increasing the use of renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions from transportation and industry, and protecting and restoring forests and other ecosystems that absorb carbon dioxide.
