मोटे तौर पर, सामान्य जागरूकता अनुभाग में पूछे जाने वाले प्रश्नों के प्रकार को दो भागों में विभाजित किया जा सकता है:
- स्थिर
- गतिशील
स्थैतिक भाग UPSC पाठ्यक्रम के उस खंड या अन्य परीक्षा के पाठ्यक्रम से संबंधित है जो परिवर्तित नहीं होता है। मसलन, 1857 का विद्रोह, भारत की भौतिक विशेषताएं आदि।
डायनामिक हिस्सा करंट अफेयर्स से संबंधित है। वर्तमान मामलों को कवर करने के लिए सबसे अच्छा शर्त दैनिक समाचार पत्र और प्रेस सूचना ब्यूरो (PIB) और योजना पत्रिका जैसे विश्वसनीय स्रोत हैं।
करंट अफेयर्स की एक अच्छी समझ IAS परीक्षा, सरकारी परीक्षा या किसी भी प्रतियोगी परीक्षा में सफलता के लिए केंद्रीय है। वर्तमान मामलों में इतिहास, भूगोल, अर्थव्यवस्था, पर्यावरण और पारिस्थितिकी, राजनीति, विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी आदि जैसे विषय शामिल हैं।
